Pick A Colour

2026-07-30

‍British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law, that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic,” is the best known and most widely cited. They are part of his ideas in his extensive writings about the future.

‍The laws are:

‍1.    When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.

‍2.    The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

‍3.    Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”Wikipedia

‍Anyone can write computer code that produces a sphere. No computer knowledge whatsoever is necessary. All you need do is describe what you want in clear terms.

‍It’s not magic but very close.

‍The magician is an AI program called ChatGPT. It’s what I used to write the code that produced the sphere.

‍All I did was tell ChatGPT “I need html code to create a sphere and allow a user to choose its colour.”

‍It returned the code in seconds. Try it yourself here.
